  • Message from RCT’s Chair

We hope this finds you safe and well. We’re glad to see Maker Heights being used for our community’s daily exercise: views and skylarks are great therapy. For those further away, we can’t wait to welcome you back soon. While our facilities are closed and we have had to postpone a number of events, you will see that both the Trust and our tenants are adapting to new ways of working at Maker – from work behind the scenes on our restoration projects to online workshops and delicious takeaways.

During the COVID-19 lockdown it’s more important than ever that we find ways to support Maker Heights’ much-valued social enterprises and other businesses!

Update from Patchwork Studios:  With the doors closed all may seem quiet, but there is a huge amount of hard work going on behind the scenes at Patchwork Studios to further expand their community benefit as soon as the lockdown lifts. This includes eagerly-awaited recording studio facilities, which are well underway and already look absolutely breathtaking. As an exciting new creative hub for our Peninsula, the volunteer team are striving for maximum community inclusivity and accessibility, with a diverse programme of events and workshops waiting in the wings. If you have any creative ideas on how Patchwork Studios can further support our community through music and the arts, please reach out with your suggestions. Their mission is to benefit each and every one of you, enriching our community through cultural experiences, meaningful social connections and creative education. This venture is largely self-funded and fuelled by community spirit, so please do give the dedicated team the support they deserve both through this testing time, and when their doors are able to open again.

Update from Garrison Gallery: While the arrival of Covid-19 may have put a delay on their much-anticipated grand opening, the community focused Garrison Gallery is very much on the horizon and due to see its doors open once the lockdown has passed. Their inaugural exhibition, The Painters of Maker Through the Ages, already has over a dozen notable Maker artists past and present excited to display their work. Along with exhibitions, the gallery aims to provide educational workshops, immersive art experiences, creative collaborations with Patchwork Studios, and (with the recent approval of their entertainment license) the gallery/bar/event space will serve as a wonderful gathering place for the local community. Maker Campsite

Unfortunately Maker Campsite is closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The campsite team are looking after the site, undertaking important grounds maintenance, and making sure that everything is ready for our first visitors as soon as the current restrictions on travel are lifted. We look forward to welcoming guests at some point in the future!
